Dal Idli

Make a healthy twist to your regular idli

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Yellow Moong Dal
  • ¾ cup Rice
  • ½ cup Grated Carrot
  • ¼ cup Chopped Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Fresh Chilli Chopped
  • 2 tbsp Green Coriander Leaves
ForTempering
  • 2 tsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Chopped Ginger
  • 7-9 Curry Leaves Tore
  • 1 Dry Red Chili
  • As Required Oil To Grease

Method
 

  1. Wash dal and rice 3-4 times and soak, covered for three hours. Grind to a smooth paste and ferment overnight.
  2. Add the chopped bell pepper and grated carrot.
  3. For tempering, heat oil in a tadka pan. Add mustard seeds and allow to crackle. Mix curry leaves and chopped ginger. Switch off the flame and add the batter along with chopped coriander. Mix well.
  4. Heat idli maker with sufficient water. Grease the plates with oil. Pour dal batter with veggies and steam them for 7-8 minutes. Check by inserting a knife into one idli. If it comes clear, the Idlis are done.
  5. Wait for some time to release the steam. Take out Idlis and serve it hot with accompaniments.
